On page optimisation for the complete beginner

Okay everybody time strap yourself in and prepare. We are going to be going through some of the simple and some more complicated features of SEO. The type of features talking about Range from On page SEO, to creating quality content and I even have plans to discuss on site features like increasing site speed.

My first page or revolve around the basic features of on page SEO.

For those who don't know SEO stands for search engine optimisation. This is an important part of Internet marketing. It's the process of optimising your website so that search engines can understand the material at the site covers, and can therefore push the website up the rankings for relevant keywords.

When planning on page optimisation rule number one is produce good quality content. I cannot emphasise this point enough. Search engines have consistently informed us that the main feature they wish to recognise is good quality content. You may be asking yourself what does good-quality content actually mean. Good question. Good quality content means content that users will benefit from. This can be broken down further to understand how we produce this. Do you think users will benefit from any of the following points.

  • Duplicate content.

  • Content which cannot be read.

  • Content which is stuffed with keywords and again cannot be read.

  • Content which has nothing to do with the original promise of the heading.

  • Content lasting 3 sentences or less.

Yes I think you all answered correctly. The above points have absolutely nothing to do with good quality content. From this we should recognise that good quality content should be original, readable and be of value to the user. Once we understand this it's not too difficult to begin to develop outposts content and blogs to fit around this simple rule.

Now is the second point I'd like to make a note of is the value of well structured headings. Are Heading is a sentence or two which describes the content which is about to follow. As a user by reading a heading we can quickly determine whether the content is what we wish to read a not. This means we don't have to spend time working out whether page is the right for us. Making it a nice user-friendly page. HTML allows us to mark up a heading with certain tags. Can you remember those pesky H1 h2 h3 and h4 tanks from your web design lessons. All of those are about to become of extreme importance. Heading tags can be wrapped around heading, To inform the search engines that the sentence is a heading. Once the search engines are able to read that this is the heading that describes the content to follow. We can use the words within the heading to leave described to the search engines what we wish to rank for. This method is called heading optimisation.

Another crucial feature of On page optimisation is using the page title. The Page title like the heading sums up what will be displayed on the page. Some websites fail to use this simple mark up. By optimising page title we are able to show the search engines what content is displayed on this page.

Lesser-known feature of on page optimisation, is page speed. Having a quick clean websites is crucial for maintaining a high quality of user experience. If the webpage takes a long time to load then be usable be waiting and will not derive optimum experience. Search engines therefore have stated that having a quick clean website may improve its rankings.

So this has been my summary of on page optimisation for beginners. I you will be writing shortly regarding intermediate level on page optimisation. Look forward to your comments. Bye
